Meet Our Physicians
Rita K. Aronson, M.D.
Rita K. Aronson, M.D., was born in Aledo, Illinois, just 30 miles south of Rock Island and was raised on a small family farm near Aledo. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, where she received an elementary education and music degree. After teaching music in Albany, Illinois, she moved to Kansas, where she attended the University of Kansas, both for premedical courses and medical school.
The Aronson’s then moved to Chicago where she completed residency in the Northwestern residency program. Dr. Aronson joined “The Group” in 1991. Rita recently married Brad and in addition to three lovely adult daughters of her own she now has gained three more daughters and three grandchildren. They all enjoy time together, especially in the great outdoors.
Kenneth L. Naylor, M.D.
Kenneth L. Naylor, M.D., was born and raised in Toole, Utah. His undergraduate degree was earned at the University of Utah in Materials Science and Engineering. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1986 and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 1990. Dr. Naylor joined Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists P.C. and moved to Bettendorf after completing his residency training. Dr. Naylor completed an American Hospital Association Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship through the Health Research Education Trust in 2007. Dr. Naylor serves a a reviewer for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologist’s Voluntary Review of Quality Care hospital program and as a reviewer of office practices through the Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence (SCOPE) program. He has also been actively involved in patient safety initiatives within the Genesis Health System.
Dr. Naylor and his wife, Sandi have five children. His interests include traveling, running, skiing, serving missions in the Third World, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Briana R. Barclay, M.D.
Briana R. Barclay, M.D., grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She received her Bachelors degree in Biology & Exercise Science at the University of Iowa, while also competing in track and cross country for the Hawkeyes. Dr. Barclay graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 2002. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Barclay joined “The Group” in 2006.
In her free time she enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband and three sons, running, the outdoors, and Hawkeye sports.
Anita L. Pinc, D.O.
Anita L. Pinc, D.O., grew up in Naperville, Illinois. She attended Augustana College receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in psychology. She received her medical degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and acquired an interest in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her internship at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital and at Michael Reese Hospital. Anita moved to Toledo, Ohio to complete her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Pinc returned to the Quad Cities to begin practice in 2001. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring nature, gardening, dance, running, hiking and skiing.
Lyndsey J. Day, M.D.
Lyndsey J. Day, M.D., grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. She received her medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Day thoroughly enjoys OBGYN and providing healthcare throughout all phases of women’s lives.
Jen Steines, M.D.
Jen Steines, M.D. grew up in DeWitt, Iowa. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree at St Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, while playing both basketball and softball for the Queen Bees. She then pursued her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. She completed her Ob/GYN residency and worked for an additional two years as staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
She and her family returned home to the quad city area as of August 2014. She is married to Mark and has two sons. She is an avid Hawkeye fan, enjoys sports of all kinds, and most of all, her family.
Adolescent GYN, Contraceptive counseling, minimally invasive surgery, vulvar conditions, and of course Ob.
Jana Van Rybroek
Jana Van Rybroek, D.O., grew up in Iowa City, Iowa. She attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota where she earned an undergraduate degree in Biology. After several years of working in Iowa City as a research assistant in the Department of Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) at the University of Iowa and volunteering at a local women’s health clinic and the rape victim advocacy program, Dr. Van Rybroek went to Medical School at Des Moines University. In that time, she was able to complete rotations in Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Main, Ohio, and Michigan. She completed her residency at a community based hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan about 10 miles south of Flint, Michigan. In her free time, Dr. Van Rybroek enjoys exercising (she has ran 6 marathons) and yoga. She also spends as much time as possible with her friends, family, fiancé, Matt, and her dog, Gracie.
Meet Our Nurse-Midwives
Beth N. Carlson, C.N.M., M.S.
Beth N. Carlson, C.N.M., M.S. grew up in the Quad Cities. She attended Truman State University, in Kirksville, Missouri and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1998. After graduation, Beth practiced as a Registered Nurse in labor and delivery at Trinity Medical Center. She returned to school and earned a Masters of Science, specializing in Maternal-Child Nursing, from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000. Beth had been practicing as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in Rock Island until she joined Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, P.C. in August, 2002. Beth enjoys spending time with her children, her husband Josh, and their friends and family. In her free time she loves to ski, travel, and just relax and enjoy life.
Melissa Daniels, C.N.M., M.S.N.
Melissa Daniels, C.N.M., M.S.N. is a Davenport native who graduated from St. Ambrose University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Melissa joined The Group in December 2016 after working for 6 years as a Registered Nurse at the Birth Center at Genesis East. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2016.
Melissa loves spending time with her three children, exercising, and spending time outdoors. She says her favorite part about working at The Group is building relationships with the women and their families. Her daily goal is to have a positive impact on her patient’s day.
Pam A. Thorpe, C.N.M., M.S.N.
Pam A. Thorpe, C.N.M., M.S.N. lives in Dubuque, IA and commutes to her position here in the Quad Cities. She began her RN vocation in 1985, and has focused virtually her entire career in family centered nursing.
She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Dubuque in 1996, and Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing through Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 2004. Prior to joining the Group, she worked three years in women’s health care in Davenport.
Pam’s belief in patient education has been emphasized by teaching prepared childbirth classes for over ten years, and serving as a clinical instructor for OB nursing students.
She is married to Monte, and their blended family includes five children and a golden retriever. Time away from work is spent bicycling, cross country skiing, boating, and almost any outdoor activity. She also enjoys reading, and loves to cook, as well as eat!
She thoroughly enjoys caring for women throughout the lifespan.
Lydia Skiles C.N.M.
Lydia Skiles C.N.M. grew up in the Quad Cities. She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Nursing in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She worked at Genesis Medical Center in Labor and Delivery for 6 years. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master’s degree specializing in Midwifery and Women’s healthcare. Lydia joined The Group shortly after finishing her studies in 2012. Lydia has two children-Race and Lola.
Laura Sierra C.N.M., M.S.N.
Laura Sierra C.N.M., M.S.N. grew up in Hampton, Illinois. She graduated from Black Hawk College in 2002 with and Associate’s degree in Nursing. Laura worked at Genesis Birth Center as a Registered Nurse for 12 years. During this time, she graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2008 and a Master’s degree in Nursing in 2013, specializing in Nurse Midwifery. Laura has worked 3 years in Davenport as a Nurse Midwife and joined The Group in 2015. Laura and her husband Erin have three daughters. Laura enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering in the community.
Trisha Nelson C.N.M., F.N.P.-B.C.
Trisha Nelson, CNM, FNP-BC is from Morris, Illinois. She attended Northern Illinois University to become a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and worked for 6 years at an Urgent Care/Emergency Center. Then, she attended Bethel University for Midwifery before coming to The Group. Trisha’s favorite part about working at The Group is the camaraderie between all of the care providers who provide excellent patient care. When Trisha isn’t at The Group she enjoys reading, traveling, and visiting family with her husband.
Meet Our Physician Assistant
Kristi A. Bullock, M.M.S., P.A.-C.
Kristi A. Bullock, M.M.S., P.A.-C., was born in the small, upstate New York town of Ogdensburg, but has spent most of the last 30 years in Bettendorf. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1995. In August of 1998, Kristi graduated with a Master’s of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. She became certified as a Physician Assistant in December of 1998. Kristi joined “The Group” in February of 1999. Outside of work, Kristi spends most of her time with her husband Scott and their three very active children, Logan, Chloe and Austin. In her spare time she enjoys attending her children’s sporting events, camping, exercising and traveling.
Meet Our Nurse-Practitioners
JoAnn Neilson, A.R.N.P.
JoAnn Neilson, A.R.N.P., is a native Iowan from a small rural community in South-eastern Iowa. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She attended the Advanced Women’s Health Care Program at the University of Texas in Dallas, receiving her Nurse Practitioner Degree in Women’s Health. JoAnn was N.C.C. certified in Women’s Health Care in 1983.
JoAnn has been working as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner since then and joined the Group in 1990. In addition to annual health examinations, her specialty areas include infertility and treatment of urinary incontinence.
JoAnn enjoys jewelry making, cross country skiing, and working in her flower garden.
Stacey L. Flynn, A.R.N.P., M.S.N.
Stacey L. Flynn, A.R.N.P., M.S.N., grew up in the Quad Cities. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1995. After graduation, Stacey practiced as a Registered Nurse at Genesis in the Birth Center. She returned to school and earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing specializing as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN in 1999. Later that year, Stacey was N.C.C. certified as an obstetrics and gynecology nurse practitioner. She has been practicing as a women’s health nurse practitioner since then and joined “The Group” in 2001.
Stacey resides in Bettendorf with her husband Mike and their two sons. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. Hobbies include reading, spending time outdoors, exercising and shopping.
Mary B. Johnson, A.R.N.P., M.S.N.
Mary B. Johnson, A.R.N.P., M.S.N. was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Rock Island, Illinois. She graduated form Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a bachelors degree in Nursing in 1989. After graduation she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Johns Mercy Medical Center in St Louis, Missouri and earned an N.C.C. speciality certification in Inpatient Obstetrics while raising her 4 daughters. In 1998 her family moved back to the Quad Cities and she continued to work as a labor and delivery nurse at Genesis in the Birth Center. She returned to school in 2005 and earned a Masters of Science degree in Nursing specializing as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Illinois- Chicago in 2007. She was certified by N.C.C. as a WHNP in 2007 and began her career at the Rock Island Health Department in their women’s health clinic. In 2008 she accepted a position at Edgerton Women’s Health Center and was employed there until 2010 when she joined ” The Group”.
Mary and her husband reside in Rock Island. They have four daughters, 3 grandchildren, and three “fur babies”. Mary continues to work as a labor and delivery nurse at Genesis on a per diem basis. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
