When should I have an infertility evaluation?

Typically, when pregnancy does not occur after one year (6 months if >35 years of age), menses are irregular, or there is a known fertility concern, then fertility testing is recommended.
The most common cause of female infertility is a problem with ovulation. The most common cause of male infertility is a problem with sperm cells and how they function. Other factors that may affect fertility include age, lifestyle, and health conditions. Sometimes no cause of infertility is found.
What should I expect during my visits?
detailed medical history and physical exam
testing (laboratory tests, imaging tests)
treatment (possible surgery, ovulation induction, or intrauterine insemination)
The evaluation includes assessing ovulation, Fallopian tubes, and the partner with a semen analysis.

In addition to evaluating infertility, we offer treatments that may include surgery, ovulation induction, and intrauterine insemination. We also diagnose and treat polycystic ovarian syndrome.
